Thai traditional clothing and Adornment has been influenced by rulers of each period and vary by city
there are four main Clothing style in Thai History
a. Tavaravadee
influenced by India style
- Men's pant with a silk top or no top, adornment with golden or metal necklace and belts
- Women's clothes had cloth brace on the shoulder with tight wrapped around the breasts and a long skirt from waist to ankle
b. Lopburi
influenced by the Cambodian Khmer style
Men had short Sarong which was tight around the waist all the way long to knee and metal belt
women clothes without top or a cloth wrapping the breasts, and short Sarong
c. Sukhothai
Name of a city that rule Thailand during 19th-20th Century
- Men's clothing with a long v shape neck and a cloth brace on their shoulders. they still have their loincloth and metal belt.
- Women's clothing was a long silk sarong with flower painted on it, silk or fabric cloth wrapped around the breast
d. Ayudhaya
Name of another city that rule Thailand during 20th-21st Century
Men's clothes with loincloths, full sleeves with top
Women clothes with short sleeves made from silk, breast cloth, with long skirt
2. Modern Thailand Clothing
- Special Events
a. Raj Pattern- Thai men Costume with an Indian Nehru - Style Jacket, a Chong Kraben, knee length socks and dress shoes, worn by government official and upper class in Bangkok. it was selected to be a national costume.
b. Sampot - Thai Women Costume which is long, retangular cloth worn around the body. it can be draped and folded in several different way. it usually made from silk woven and used as heirlooms, in weddings and funeral
These two type of clothes can be apply for children at all age in Thailand
- Day to day clothes
In modern thailand, people wear day to day clothes just like any other place over the world with jeans, shirts, T-shirt or vests.
3. Thailand Contemporary Clothes
Thailand clothes has been redesigned to fit the modern life with convenience and comfortable, but still keep their tradition
